LONG-TERM BUSINESS VISA

 

The New Zealand Long-Term Business Visa category is a great option for people who wish to migrate to New Zealand with their family and are interested in starting a business or buying an existing business in New Zealand.

This NZ Business Visa is a 3-year temporary residency permit that can lead onto the Entrepreneur Category and a permanent New Zealand residency application.

 

Once your Long Term Business application is approved, you will initially be given a nine-month work visa, enabling you to buy or establish your business in New Zealand. Within that nine months, or as soon as you have taken steps to establish your business, you can apply for a further work visa for the balance of three years.

To be eligible for a New Zealand Business Visa you will need to show:

l   You have either owned your own business/worked for yourself or held a management position responsible for all aspects of the business operation.

l   Your plans are genuine i.e. you have a satisfactory business plan with detailed financial information. Your business plan is critical and can be appraised by our staff.

l   You have sufficient investment capital to setup your business. (No specific requirements)

l   You have not been involved with a business failure/fraud or wrong doing within the last five years.

l   You have funds to cover your living expenses.

l   Your business will be good for New Zealand i.e. result in providing employment and/or transfer of skills.

l   You have researched New Zealand i.e.it's a good idea to visit New Zealand before hand and make contacts. It also helps to put a competition matrix together if there is existing competition.

l   You and any accompanying family member meet good health, character and English language requirements. To meet English language requirements you need to provide one the following:

n   International English Language Testing System (IELTS), showing an overall band score of four; or

n   a certificate, or certificates, showing completion of all primary education and a minimum of three years secondary education in English (this means the equivalent of Form five or year 11 in New Zealand); or

n   a certificate, or certificates showing completion of at least five years of secondary education in English (this means the equivalent of Form seven or year 13 in New Zealand); or

n   a certificate showing a course of at least three years duration, leading to the award of a tertiary qualification at institutions using English as the medium of instruction, was completed; or

n   Hong Kong Advanced Level Examinations (HKALE) including a minimum C pass in Use of English

 

Pathway for Temporary residence LongTerm Business Visa to à Permanent residence Option 1 – Entrepreneur Category

 

If you have successfully established a business in New Zealand, and you have been 'self-employed' in that business for at least two years, and your business has benefited New Zealand, you may be eligible for residence in New Zealand under the Entrepreneur Category.

 

Option 2 – Entrepreneur Plus Category

Under this category there is no minimum time requirement for which you must have operated your business, and it provides a faster track to residence if you;

n   Hold a long term business visa

n   Have successfully established a business in New Zealand

n   Have been ‘self-employed’ in that business

n   Have invested at least NZ$0.5 million in the business, and

n   Have created a minimum of 3 new full time jobs for New Zealand citizens or residents
